Adoption of Orphaned Animals

Hello and welcome to AEC Smarter Economics. I was just watching a commercial for adopting animals. I agree that every homeless animal should have a family to belong to. So, I have a job for my viewers. Thats includes you of course. I want every animal in the pounds to be adopted. Tell one and all to adopt an animal that is in need in your area. Animals deserve homes too. Please give a pet a home. Thanks.

Integrating a new cat: part 2

Hello, this part two of my article about bringing a new cat to the family. If you followed each step correctly, and the older cat still mistreats the younger cat you have to take considerable action. My older cat, Duke, still mistreats Earl. However, when he does growl or strike Earl, we simply snap our fingers or call his name firmly. After that he stops and doesn't continue. Sometimes Earl starts it be violently playing with Duke. That is also unacceptable. You must train the kitten to learn to play gently by slapping him gently when he claws at the other cat, and small things like that should correct the problem. My next article will be about, why do the older cats let the younger cats beat them up? Stay tuned at AEC Smarter Economics.

Info On Cats: Cat Obesity IMPORTANT!!

Today on info on cats, I will be talking about a very important matter. A lot of cats are becoming larger than ever before. Some people may think this is a new breed or CGI. But this problem is much worse than that. Cats who exceed a certain size is dangerously overweight. You at all costs must protect your cat from this hazard. Feed your cat at designated feeding times, no more than 3 times a day. Make your cat do lots of physical exercise. Don't give your cat fatty snacks, I only give my cats ALL NATURAL snacks. Be more considerate to your cat, don't purposely give your feline health problems. Ways to check if your cat is overweight:

  • If you can feel your cats ribs with a gentle touch, your cat is normal
  • If your cat still likes to run around and be active
  • Your cat is moderately easy to pick up
Take a minute to inspect your cats health. Doing so will limit the chance of cat obesity. Keep your cat healthy, he will live longer and give your cat lots of love.

Info On Cats: Where Can You Get Tabby Cats?

A loyal viewer has kindly given me a comment that I would gladly answer. Where can you find tabby cats? You can get tabby cats almost anywhere. They are the most popular cats around. But in actual fact, tabby is a color not a breed. Although I am not sure what the breed is so I just use its color instead. But as I said before, you can adopt a tabby cat at any pet store you can find. But make sure to read my next article: Info on Cats: How do you pick the right cat? That will explain how to pick the right cat for you and some techniques in finding out if he/she is friendly or not. Spread the word about A.E.C. Economy Watch and Fresh Topics!

Love Your Cat!

I am a cat lover. I have two of my own cats that I love dearly. A lot of cats or any other animals today don't have a warm home or a loving owner. Now, loving your pet is ESSENTIAL if your pet is to have good health. Every human being and animal needs to know that someone loves it very much. So if you have a cat, dog, bird, lizard or any animal, love him/her very much. No animal deserves to live without a friendly owner. So, every person in the world should take his/her pet once every day and cuddle or hug him to let him know that he has a wonderful home. Spread the love every day!

Info On Cats: Do Cats Lose Their Their Teeth?

Welcome to my vast collection of articles based on cats. This time I will bring to your attention, do cats lose their teeth? Just an hour ago, I found a miniature tooth. I, personally, was grossed out at this sight. But when I looked at Earl's mouth, I noticed that he lost his tooth. Kittens are just like children, they play, they get hurt, they sound so adorable when they meow, and they lose their teeth. I am now making a collection of tiny teeth, so if you find a small tooth, it probably is your kittens tooth. So there is no need to worry of your kitten has lost his/her tooth, just don't get grossed out like I did. ☺

Info On Cats: New Kitten/ Integrating a New Cat Into The Family:

Guess what blog fans, I got a new grey tabby kitten two days ago. His full name is Earl Grey Tea, but we just call him Earl. He and Duke are starting to get along, but Earl still needs a few more lessons. Today's topic of discussion is: Info On Cats: Integrating a New Cat Into The Family. This may sound like a piece of cake to you, but this is actually a very hard task. Let's say you have a new kitten, but at home you already have a full grown cat. If the cat you already have is young, and not too old, it will be possible to bring a new cat home. But, if you have a very old cat who may not be willing to have a new cat in the house may not be able to accept a new cat. So it would be better if you didn't buy a new cat. If you do have a young cat at home this is what you should do:
  1. Introduce both cats to each other carefully.
  2. Let both cats go on their way around the house and let them go to each other.
  3. If your older cat hisses or makes a deep meowing sound, do not get involved. The older cat is telling the new cat that he/she is the boss and should not be messed with.
  4. When you have the chance, bring the cats to together face to face, don't be alarmed if your older cat strikes the new cat, and when this happens, do not intervene.
  5. Over time the cats will get used to each other, this will not happen quickly.
Following the steps provided above will ensure that both cats will be comfortable in the house and they will get along well. If you have any questions or comments about cats or about any topic provided in this blog, I would be more than happy to answer them. ☺

IMPORTANT Info On Cats: Collars and licenses

This Info On Cats article is a very important one when it comes to your cat's safety. When you get a cat you have to get it a license, a small keychain-looking thing that has your cat's information on it. Your cat MUSTwear these licenses because if your cat gets lost, someone will look at the collar and return it. If your cat does not have a collar and license, it may be taken to a pound and you may never get your cat back. When you buy a collar, you should not be too fancy because your cat doesn't care if it has diamonds or not, the simpler the collar the better. I bought my cat a Safe Cat® Break Away reflective collar because he likes to go outside at night. Most collars have a Break Away feature. The Break Away feature is, if your cat gets stuck on a branch or something that won't let it get away, the collar will break the clip that holds the collar together, letting the cat get away. Some people may not bother putting the collar on the cat or even putting the license on the collar. Don't do that, as soon as you get your cat, get the collar on with the licenses, especially if your cat goes for walks outside like mine does. Remember, the collar doesn't have to be fancy, just a nice design and a bell is good. Your veterinarian will update your cat's license every year. Keep your cat safe and happy

Info On Cats: Keep Your Cat Warm

Welcome back to info on cats. By now your house must be covered in a soft blanket of sparkling snow that give you chills in the morning sun. When you think of that sentence it might make you head south for the winter. As humans we have coats and jackets, scarves, gloves and cozy hats to keep us warm. But your cat might not have that good of a winter coat because of all the shedding they do during the summer and winter. I bought my cat some dog coats and I also made some. My cat doesn't really like wearing a coat, but in the fall and spring it gets cold and the fur coats they wear just aren't enough. Dog coats are just as good because people don't sell cat clothes. When you buy dog coats, make sure you get a medium or small for your cat so it fits just right.

Info On Cats: How do they purr?

Have you ever pet a cat and listened to the soothing purr. Scientists actually don't know why cats purr. It could be that they are scared or happy, maybe even sad. But we do know where the purr originates from in the cats body. Fun Fact: Large cats like tigers and lions can't purr like small felines can. The cat uses the muscles of the larynx to vibrate the glottis very fast. That causes the purr sound. After all of those big words, it comes from some muscles in the cat near the mouth. If you want the exact definition of those two words, look it up in a dictionary, or click this link:

So, enjoy your adorable cat's purr. It is so relaxing when I listen to my cat purr. Tip: If you feel stressed from work, take some time off and just look at your cat. If it's sleeping go ahead and watch it. It may sound boring, but it is actually a great stress reliever. Try it out! =) What do you think, did the cats purr come by chance or was it created?

Info on Cats: Are cats color blind?

Are Cats Color Blind?

I was wondering if my cat couldn't see the different colors in my home, but in actual fact, cats can see different colors, but not very clearly. They see colors vaguely. They can see your blue carpet on the floor but it may be a little dull in their eyes, but to us that blue is radiant. So there is a significant difference between us and cats. In the 1940's scientists thought cats couldn't see different colors, only grey. But further research revealed the amazing fact of cats being able to see colors. Of course their eyes are able to see in dim lighting, so the need for color is not mandatory for cats. Their eyesight is able to pick up movement that we couldn't see. For example, if a mouse scurries through the bushes at night, the cat will hear and most likely see it, but we would not even have noticed. It is just amazing how cats can have all these amazing qualities. What do you think, did the cat's eyesight come by chance or was it created?

Info On Cats: Catnip

Welcome back to Info On Cats! Today's topic is "Catmint or Catnip". I gave my cat a toy that had catmint inside as filling and he goes crazy over it! If you have a cat(adult) then it will be able to control itself when it eats or chews on catnip. If you have a kitten, you may worry a little. Don't worry. The catmint is harmless to the cat. Give your cat some and he will put on a show for you. The symptoms of catmint from personal experience (when your cat eats it) are:

  • dizziness
  • loss of balance
  • sleepiness
  • disorientation
  • and hyper behavior
If your cat eats or chews on this plant,(above picture) don't worry. It is normal for you cat to have those symptoms and to be eating plants. Over a period of time, your cat will get used to the catmint and will develop a small immunity to the symptoms above. Of course your cat will still act funny. So all in all, don't freak out if your cat eats catnip. =)

Info on Cats: Behavior

Info on cats will talk about cat behaviour. If a cat rubbs himself against you, it means that he likes you and is also spreading hisscent. You are probably wondering why the cat rubbs his face and head against stuff. It is because he is spreading his scent around the house claiming it. The only reason why a cat rubbs stuff is to spread scent. Now if the cat bites you, don't think of the cat being mad at you, the cat is actually 'kissing' you in a cat way. The cat will know when to stop biting you. Do not try to pull away because it will hurt more when you pull away. I pull away all the time because my cat is very fast when he tries to bite me. If you want me to post any more information about cats that you need, please comment in the comment section. ↓

Info on Cats: Play time!

This time on info on cats we will talk about playing with your feline. If you find that your cat is playful, you must play with them. That playful mood only comes once in a while and it is rare to ever encounter that momentwith your cat again. I once played with my cat. I was in the basement cleaning, then when I started up the stairs, my cat came up to the top and started rolling around and clawing at the stairs. He was playing 'hide-and-seek' with me. It's moments like that, that you cannot miss and think it will come again. You don't need special toys or anything, you just need your cat to make up all the games. If you wish to know which cat is 'best for you' just use the comments button to ask me which one is good for you. Simply write in the comment section what your personality isand I will help you think of the right feline for you. ☺

Info on Cats: Road Trip

This time on INFO ON CATS: ROAD TRIP we will talk about how you can have a nice trip with your cat in the car. First, you must know that cats hate the carperiod:[ But you can still bring your cat in the car. I bring my cat in the car sometimes when going to the vet or to my Grandmother's house. Once when I brought my cat in the car he was meowing very loudly and was falling onto the ground all the time! What you can do to prevent that from happening is putting the cat in the front seat lying down, because if the owner is beside the cat, the cat will feel safe. You must also pet the cat once in a while and talk to the cat very softly to make the cat calm down. You must also keep an eye out for paw prints on the windows, if you see that the cat is getting too hot from falling and meowing, you must calm him down. For my opinion, make a car seat that is removable so the cat will not walk about the car too much. Hope this was helpful. If you need more info, just comment! ☺

Info on Cat's: Summer Days

This time on INFO ON CATS: SUMMER DAYS, we will be talking about how you can protect your cat fromfleas and other harmful things and how you can have a great summer with your furry friend. Is your cat an outdoors cat? If so, reading this blog will help youprevent your cat from catching harmful things to you and the cat. Before you even think about putting your cat outside, you must, absolutely must put on flea repellent on the cat. You buy some from the store and put it on the cat in between the shoulder blades. Then you can let it outside. The reason? Cats will catch just about anything in there fur unless it is a short haired cat. But still. The worst thing to catch in the cat fur, is fleas, the cat will pass it on to the owner and the owner won't even know that he/she has fleas! So make sure you put that on your 'to do' list this week. You must also get the cat's vaccine tag put onto that collar of his. No collar, no cat. Without a collar your cat could be in danger when roaming the streets. Someone could call the animal shelter orcould take him to another home for keeps! No one wants that to happen to there pet. You must alsobrush the cat every time it comes back inside so you can take out what shouldn't be in there like twigs or dirt etc. To enjoy all day long with your cat, put hisfood and water bowl outside and get a lawn chair, he will sleep on that hot chair all day long and can keep you company while you are fixing the garden. Hope the summer will be fun for you and your fuzzy-wuzzy friend! ☺

Info on Cats: Healthy Hug

Today we will talk about the healthy hug. The Healthy hug is actually a message that soothes the cat and releases stress from the cat. It alsoenhances the cat owner relationship. Make sure you and the cat are in a comfortable place and make sure the cat has a bowl of water near by. Do not do the massage if the cat is injured or has anopen wound or bruises, the message will not have the same affect. Here are some instructions:

Effleurage

Effleurage is a gentlelong stroke, which helps towarm the tissue. The amount of pressure applied to the animal is about 5 grams to a pound. This is a very, very light touch. One hand is on the pet atall time, while the other hand slowly slides down over the face, head, body, tail and outside of the legs. Make sure to go in the direction of the hair growth.Next, gently stroke up the inside of the legs, against the hair growth. With hand over hand efflurage, one hand starts a stroke as the other hand ends a stroke. This leaves one hand connected to the animal at all times. Centripetal efflurage is a circle motion toward the heart. Be careful not to pull the hair. Do not touch areas of infection, open wounds or lumps.

Passive Touch

When passive touch is applied, it is done with
no pressure at all. Your hand is held on a muscle group only. A hand is held on the headshoulder, along the side or the thigh and hip. This is done for a few moments. It will produce calmness, and help to relieve some pain. Your pet will be comforted by this weightless touch. Passive touch can be done anytime. Again, areas of infection, bony areas, open wounds and lumps are not touched.

The benefits from massage are many:

  • Increased flexibility

  • A general sense of wellness

  • Reduction of pain

  • Increased circulation

  • Calmness

  • Info on Cats: Dinner Time!

This time on INFO ON CATS: DINNER TIME! We will talk about what you should get for your cats and what you should know about different types of bowls. What kind of questions race through your mind as you scan the aisles of the Pet Store? What food is best for my cat? What bowl is better? What are the ingredients in all theses different types of pet food? Well let's start with, what food is best for my cat? Well, I prefer all organic pet food, it is healthier and has a very less chance of being harmful. But what type of bowl? Metal sounds good. Metal, bad choice! Animals are always eating out of metal food bowls and breaking all their teeth. You don't want that. Try porcelain, it's better. What ingredients are bad? Always check, some food has plastic and trust me, you do not want your cat or dog for that matter to eat bowls of plastic. Hope this was helpful, please read my next article,HOW TO DO A "HEALTHY HUG" FOR CATS AND DOGS.

    Info on Cats: Bath Time!

Things you should know about cats are that they arevery finicky. I have a cat and I gave him a bath so he could go over to my grandmother's house. He was so small and dripping wet! It was so cute! He was meowing so loudly. Any way, if you are going to give your cat a bath, make sure you use all natural shampoo only or just buy cat shampoo. The cat will refuse to go in the water, so you must be prepared to get wet and scratched! You must let the cat know that he is safe and warm, cats hate it when they are cold and wet so have a heater ready and going in the room. Make sure that you always do the head last!Cats hate getting their head wet. So pour water over them with a cup not a shower head unless it is on low pressure. That's all for now on INFO ON CATS:BATH TIME!
